Round Robin: Hobson's Choice Affair
Author: April Dancer
Part Nine

Illya looked around and by the wall.. There were no outward signs that there had been any kind of struggle.. And if Napoleon had been taken while he was away on his short reconnaissance, he felt sure that the American would not have gone with out a fight..

Therefore he calculated Napoleon most still be very near.. Now the question he posed was, Why? Why was not where he had lifted him.. The few answers that came first to him seemed the most logical ones..

1. Napoleon had seen the same men that had followed them into the bar.. And so not to be spotted by them, he was forced to move to another, safer location somewhere else along the street.

That was a reasonable idea, but where would he have gone, And would Napoleon not try to let him know where he was..? This Napoleon Solo did not strike him as a fool, Solo would have not moved on with out keeping a watchful eye out for him..

2. He had for reasons of his own, followed him when he had gone to get a closer check.. But Illya knew that he would have seen Napoleon if he had indeed followed him..

But Illya immediately discarded that theory..

He was still thinking over number 3 when Napoleon calmly appeared around the edge of the building, he was ripping up the fly of his dirty and tattered pants..

"Anything wrong?"

Illya snapped around, he was relieved to see that Napoleon was there. Tho he did not allow that emotion to show on his face.. Illya walked over to Napoleon.

"Where did you go..? When I returned to get you, you were gone.."

Napoleon looked a little embarrassed.

"Umm... well, I had to go and well.... drain little Napoleon.." Illya just stared at him..

"OH." was all he could think to say..

"So, is the car here yet?" Napoleon asked as he was watching Illya scanning the street for the nth time.. His question was answered, as a dark blue Ford rounded the far corner.

Something told Napoleon that that was the car.. Illya silently motioned to him to follow as he quickly lead them a crossed the street.. The back door behind the driver opened just as they reached it.. Illya pushed Napoleon in first and quickly climbed in beside him.. The car was already moving by the time he had
time to close it..

"Well Illya," said the man sitting next to the driver. "you look ruddy awful. What the hell happened to you Mate.?" his tone carried just the perfect mix of concern and amusement.. Illya frowned.

The man sitting on the another side of Napoleon spoke up..

"Sir, if you would be so kind as to switch seats with Mr. Kuryakin, I need to treat him.." Illya again frowned..

It was Napoleon who moved first, he allowed the slight blonde to crawl over his knees.. Illya now sat trapped between Napoleon and the UNCLE Medic.
