Classification:
Slash

Author's Notes:
The song is 'I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth)', apropos enough. Confessions and promises made. Lyrics-Napoleon-Lyrics-Illya-Lyrics-Napoleon-Lyrics-Illya-Lyrics-scene, etc. Not really an AU, but seperate from my regular continuity.

Pairing:
IK/NS. Anything else would just be wrong.

//I'd never tell you one lie, I'd never let you down I'd never leave, I'd be the one who'd always be around Baby, give me a chance//

I held him, whispering promises into his hair and praying he wouldn't fall asleep, because I was pretty sure he had a concussion. And he let me hold him, which was somewhat unprecedented, and looked up at me with trust in his eyes, and I knew I'd die before I ever betrayed that trust.

//I'd pull the sun down from the sky to light your darkest night I'd never let one drop of rain fall down into your life Put your heart in my hands//

I watched the tear start down his cheek, and reached up to wipe it away, and promised him it would be all right, that we would be all right. I don't know if he believed me, but if I could have found the voice, I would have promised him more. I would have promised him the heavens, in return for just a little of his heart.

//Believe me, baby, I would never do you wrong And I would never paint your world blue And if sometimes it seems I must have lost my mind I might be crazy, but I'm crazy for you//

He said he was okay, and since beggers can't be chooser, that'll have to be enough for me. I promised him that I would get him out of here, but we talked, and then I didn't stop there. He said he'd never really been happy before, and I promised I would make him happy, which wasn't exactly the sane thing to do, but...

//I'd lie for you and that's the truth Do anything you want me to I'd even sell my soul for you I'd do it all for you If you'd just believe in me//

He wants to make me happy. If I was surprised at what I said-- and I was-- what he said floored me. *He* wants to make *me* happy. Doesn't he know how happy I would be just to be everything he wants of me? He makes me believe in things all the miracles in the world couldn't convince me of. All I need to be happy is him.

//Just take a look in my eyes, you'll see a love that's blind Just take a hold of my hand, I'll take you to paradise Ain't a star that's too far//

"I love you." Napoleon confessed, letting out a lungful of air he hadn't been aware of.

"I love you." Illya smiled up at him.

Their fingers laced, and their lips met. Napoleon's tongue dipped into Illya's mouth, tentative at first. The whole world seemed different somehow, they felt different. Unstoppable. They broke away to look into each other's eyes.

//Your every wish will be a wish that I will make come true And if you want the moon, I swear I'll bring it down for you Let me into your heart//

He's beautiful... For one thing, he has the bluest eyes I've ever seen. His hair is mussed, flopping down over one side of his forehead, and he's blushing just a little bit, and grinning up at me. My breath catches in my throat when he sucks his lower lip into his mouth, nibbling it.

//Believe me babe, got your name carved on my soul You're the only one that I'll give it to Go let 'em say that I'm a fool to act this way 'Cause if I'm crazy, I'm just crazy 'bout you//

He's gorgeous... Of course, he always has been, and everyone thinks so, but now he's gorgeous and he's mine, and he's even more gorgeous for being claimed, because his lips are all rosy and kiss-stung and moist, and his tongue comes out to taste whatever's left of me there, and his eyes bore right into my soul...

//I'd lie for you and that's the truth Move mountains if you want me to I'd walk across the fire for you I'd walk on the wild for you If you'd just believe in me//

There is nothing I wouldn't do for this man now and no going back. If he asks me to give any part of myself over, it's his. Heck, if he asks me to jump off a cliff, all he has to do is point me to the nearest on. Of course, what he really needs me to do for him is get him out of here, and he doesn't doubt for a minute that I could, and I will, because it's for him.

//And you will never see a day I'll ever break your heart You'll see the sky fall down before it ever gets that far I'll show you heaven every second that you're in my arms Baby, I'm crazy, but I'm crazy 'bout you//

I'd let him take me right here if he asked, but he's more concerned with that rescue he was supposed to be providing, before he got captured himself. Just as well, since his apartment is much better suited to our first time than a dingy THRUSH cell. And our second time. And the third and the fourth ones... I want forever with him.

//I'd lie for you and that's the truth Move mountains if you want me to I'd walk across the fire for you I'd walk on the wild for you If you'd just believe in me//

"I've almost got us out of here." Napoleon whispered.

Illya nodded. "I know. I knew from the moment you showed up."

Napoleon smiled warmly. "I promise I'll have you home soon, Illya. Will you be able to walk with those injuries?"

"Of course I will. Would you have been able to carry me with yours?"

"Of course I would've. You're not heavy."

He pressed a kiss against the American's cheek. "I can walk, if I can lean on you just a little. If I can go home with you."

//I'd walk across the wild for you//

I promised him we'd be there before he knew it. The door swung open.

//Move mountains if you want me to//

I knocked out the guard that tried to stop us, before he could shoot Napoleon.

//I'd walk across the fire for you//

The coast was clear, and we stole a Jeep. We rode out to the main road, his head on my shoulder.

//Do anything you asked me to//

He was still worried, and he wanted to take me to the hospital. Finally, I said he could, if he would get his wounds treated as well.

//I'd lie for you and that's the truth Do anything you asked me to I'd even sell my soul for you I'd do it all for you If you'd just believe in me//

My exam ended, and I found his room without having to ask. I just knew, because he's my partner. He's a lot of things to me. I sat on the edge of his examination table holding his hand and looking into his eyes. He told me that in Russia, he could be arrested for homosexuality. I told him no way was he going back to Russia now, sex or no, because I'm keeping him.

//I'd lie for you and that's the truth Move mountains if you want me to I'd walk across the fire for you I'd walk on the wild for you If you'd just believe in me//

He's overprotective. I do everything I can to keep him from getting hurt, of course, but I'm not as bad as he is. Of course I keep him from getting hurt when I can, he's my partner. More than that, though. My best friend. Now, my lover. But to the rest of the world, he's still just my partner. But he's my partner who loves me, and whom I love. That is what's important.

//I'd lie for you...//

They kissed behind closed doors, in a langourous meeting of lips and teeth and tongues, communicating through touch the indelible fact that they would not be seperated.

//And that's the truth//
