Illya stood
up straighter, though he kept an arm around Napoleon just in case. Napoleon,
sensing the
need for a
united front, stood up straighter too.
"Indeed, I,
Illya Nikovetch, summond thee. " Illya acknowledged, staring into the mini-tornado
in the
center of
the room. "Why?" came the reed-thin whisper of the wind back. "We are in
need of your services" Illya replied,
hurrying on
before anybody could interrupt "We need to know what you have seen as our
kin where murdered"
The mini-tornado
seemed to slow a bit..almost thoughtfull. then it spoke, like the rusteling
of leaves on a hot summer day
"You fear
lupines or the Fae Folk may be involved, is it not?"
"I believe only kindred and humans are involved, but it is a posibility. " Illya acknowledged."the Fae stand outside this, but there are more than Kindred and Humans involved" the tornado seemed to whisper from all directions at once.
Illya sighed. This is where the bargaining got tough. "Would you and your kind be prepared to watch over the Kindred in this town that have human companions, and report back to us if anything does happen? And be prepared to help us prevent any more murders?"
"Murders are not our concern" the tornado mused. "For the right price, I am sure you could be pursueded" Illya commented coldly
"Yes, indeed. My price is freedom for me and my kind. We will be free of all binds with all vampires. Do you agree?" the tornadoe asked.
Illya sighed, that was a steep price. " Very well, I agree. "
The tornados seemed to bow, then swirled towards the window, leaving a baffled Napoleon and a thoughtfull Illya.
"Before I leave, there have been whisperings around you and your lover too" the tornadoe sighed, and left.
"Lover? You have a human lover and you didn't tell us?! " Napoleon was personally hurt and professionally insulted that the vampire had not cared to share this tidbit. "And what was that anyway, and what was that about binds?"
"I do not have
a lover. There must be some mistake" Illya replied coldly, "as to what
that was, that was an Air Elemental that is bound to me. Some Kindred are
owed large debts by Elementals, going back generations. It is going to
take some effort to
convince them
to release these debts, but in light this " Illya said, tapping a sheaf
of paper the Tornado dropped "we will probably find it worth while.
