MFUfic Round Robin 3
Chapter 6
by Debbie.
A half hour later they all met up outside, and Napoleon could distinctly
hear Kuryakin saying "It would be irrisponsible to take him along" to his
alledged father, and his father brushing away Kuryakin's concerns. Then
he addressed the group.
"Friends, today we will strike at the pharmaceutical company, and steal
away proof, proof of the working conditions there, proof of the foolhardyness
of Thrush, and best of all, proof that they are working on a dangerous
new virus, one that could wipe out humanity. " and was interrupted
by cheers from all but Kuryakin and Solo "Right, now you all know your
tasks. Napoleon, you and Illya will provide a distraction. Let's
go! " The others had presumablye had their instructions previously, as
they moved into several beaten and battered vehicules as if planned.
Kuryakin pulled Napoleon over to a yellow Volkswagon beatle, obviously
well loved but worn in well and driven by Mark Slate. "This way,
move it " Kuryakin hissed.
Once off, they soon lost the others in the maze of fallen down buildings,
dug up streets and one way roads. After about a half hour, they arrived
at a plant outside the city. Once nearby, Slate and Kuryaking dumped
the car in a stand of woods about two miles out and tossed Napoleon
a military looking uniform, both changing into theirs as well. Napoleon
took his time
changing, knowing it was an opportunity to show off his body and check
out Illya at the same time. Not bad at all, he thought, this could
be a quite pleasant mission after all.
When they where done, they set off towards the company in a jeep that
they had hidden near the Beatle. It was almost as battered up, but
the numberplate was thoughtfully covered with mud, as where the lights
on it. Napoleon was amazed at their audacity, as Slate merely drove
up to the gate and presented the three of them as the relief for
the guards. What was
more, the guard at the gate didn't even bother to check their papers
or names. From next to him in the back seat, he felt Illya's gun
press into his side and kept quiet as they drove into the compound.
"One wrong move, and I will kill you" Illya whispered, fighting his own
impulses to aim the gun elswhere. Besides, he reasoned logcially, it would
leave a mess, center a death squad on them, and it would be a waste of
that beautifull bo...bullet, of course, he corrected himself. Together
the three of them let themselves into the building and into what
looked like a storageroom. They walked further, Slate occasionally
consulting a map when nobody else was around, and found the scientists
working here generally ignored them. This was obviously the part of the
factory designed for living in or overnighting, as Napoleon spotted a
kitchen and several empty bedrooms.
"Right mate, this is where we plan our distraction. " Mark commented to Illya. They where standing in a cross between a kitchen, a hallway leading anywhere almost, and a bedroom.
"In ten minutes, this place needs to be where to be. I'll put some surprises in the bedrooms around, they'll check them first, if you and Solo there do the kitchen" he suggested, walking of with the small backpack. Illya turned to Napoleon and motioned him into the kitchen.
Napoleon eyed the kitchen, and decided it was time to earn Kuryakin's trust.
"Here, let me make up some stuff. How does a big bang and lots of rattling sound? " he asked, smiling what he hoped was a charming smile. Kuryakin looked at him appraisingly.
"Be my guest." he said tolerantly. " You have five minutes, if i don't think it will work by then, I step in." he warned.
Napoleon started moving about, unplugged the toaster and put it in the microvwave. then he started stacking metal pans, lids, spoons, knives, forks and anything else he could find on top. He explained while he worked. "Look, we turn the microwave on, and with all the electronics in the toaster, it should explode about a minute aftterwards. The explosion sends all the pans raining everywhere, causing even more chaos and noise. " then he picked up the bottle of olive oil on the counter and sighed "and even though its a waste of good oil " he upended it over half the kitchen floor, mostly near the door " they will come racing in here, or not as the case may be, and they will slip on it. Soldiers don't look down much. " he commented, having learned that lesson himself in training.
"Ingenious. Yes, it should work " Kuryaking agreed after a carefull assessment. They still had six minutes untill it had to go off
Authors note:
Don't try it at home, the microwave really does explode!
