The Not-So Urban Myth Affair
Round Robin
Part Two - By Donna B.

"Napoleon, why is it I am having difficulty believing you?"

"Perhaps it's that cold blood of yours."

"I do not have cold blood. You should know that better than anyone." Illya stopped and surveyed the leafy green surroundings. "How close are we to thecoordinates your 'friend' Connie gave us?"

Napoleon dug into his jacket pocket and pulled out a map. He squinted at it for a moment, then shoved it back into his pocket.

"It should be somewhere around here."

Illya produced a small instrument from his own jacket and began to sweep the area for signs of the downed satellite.

"Napoleon, why on earth are we looking for this silly object. Wasn't there anyone else capable of slogging through this jungle looking for some charredpiece of junk?" Illya huffed, swiping his drooping bangs away from his face.

"Now, Now Illya. You know I can never refuse a lady."

"Yes, Well, that has gotten us into trouble more than once. Ahhh... here wego."

Illya pulled aside a charred growth of vines to uncover a small twisted piece of metal. Napoleon bent over him squinting at it. He plucked it fromhis partner's grasp and tossed it in the air. On catching it, he turned itover a few times before stuffing it in his pocket.

"Well this might turn out to be simpler than we thought."

Illya stood slowly, laying his hand on Napoleon's arm. His eyes darted around, probing the dense jungle. His face showed concern.

"What?"

Illya's hand clamped over Napoleon's mouth. There was silence. It was then Napoleon realized the reason for his partner's concern. A jungle was neversilent. Something very dangerous was approaching. Both men melted silently into the dense underbrush. The crackling of electricity made Illya's hairstand on end. The buzz was subsonic, they felt it in the bones of theirears. As suddenly as it appeared, it was gone. Both men let out unconsciously held breath.

"Not a word Napoleon. I don't want to hear a word." Illya growled.
