The Not-So Urban Myth Affair
Round Robin
Part Four - By Summer

Trying to gain their balance caused by the abrupt and violent vibrations the Uncle agents quickly fell to the ground and waited for the tremors to cease as before. They didn't. The noise grew louder, almost deafening. Illya and Napoleon blocked their ears with their hands. Illya tried to speak but found that no sound other than the rumbling could be heard. All around them the ground looked as if it would cave in or explode.

Then as before the deafening noise and the trembling stopped.

Blinking and looking around Illya didn't know whether to be grateful or nervous. It was then another sound was heard. The sound was coming from a cluster of trees ahead of them. Perhaps 100 feet or so.

Getting a nod from Napoleon, Illya took out his Uncle special and took the safety off. Napoleon had already followed suit rising to his feet.

Together the two spread out and began to edge their way towards the trees.

The sound was familiar. It sounded like an engine. Of what exactly was not known but they were no longer taking any chances.

Reaching one of the main trees, Napoleon waited for Illya to get into position. In place, Napoleon stepped out and with his weapon in front of him prepared to meet what ever was in front of them. Gurilla Soliders, Thrush agents...or Martians.

Illya followed with his gun aimed and ready to fire.

Stepping out together they stared into the open field to see...nothing. Just a field. More trees and Jungle.

Perplexed, Illya turned to face Napoleon only to see that his partner....had vanished.

Running quickly to his last position, Illya reached the exact spot to see the area was empty all that was left was Napoleon's gun. Picking it up, Illya looked all around him hoping for some clue as to the disappearance of his partner. Nothing. Only an empty field and the cold silence.

Taking out his communicator Illya prepared to make an emergency call to Uncle HQ. He never even got the chance to speak when the ground from underneath him gave way and he dropped into blackness.
